Al Johnson is a guitarist's guitarist who has been a professional musician since 1990. The reason why we use the term guitarist's guitarist is Al is a versatile musician, at home on anything with strings and in most given genres of music. However ! Al, his first love would be the blues, whether it's urban blues in the 21st century setting or blues of the Mississippi Delta, Chicago or blues from outside of the Americas. It really doesn't matter.
In 1990 to 1995, Al lived or was based musically in Münich, Germany. He performed with his own trio and guest musicians in every possible venue you could think of. His musical associations were with John Kirkbride, a Scottish acoustic blues guitarist. During this time, they supported many international acts who were playing concerts in Münich. His music literally brought him all over the world.
From 1990 till 1998, he brought his music to the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and all of the UK and mainland Europe.
In short, Al was, during this time of his life, a jobbing guitarist, travelling all over the globe, playing with anybody that equalled a job.
