 Guitars
For years, Al used his 1972 Guild acoustic for soft acoustic fingerstyle. Due to age and wear and tear, the Guild has been retired and 2 other instruments are now being used. A Martin acoustic from 2007 and a Yamaha LL6 from 2007 as well. Look at the photos next to this section.

For slide
When it comes to slide playing, and in this section we are still talking about acoustic, there are 2 instruments that Al uses. An Amistar Style O from 2007, handbuilt by Amistar in Prague (they all are handbuilt), and a National Delphi from 1998. The Amistar is always used in G tuning, and the National Delphi is for D tuning. Look at the photos next to this section.

For electric blues
For electric blues, the main instruments are; for electric slide, a Rosewood strat from 1989; for soloing, a Maple neck strat from 2007. Sometimes a Gibson Les Paul standard from 1998 or a custom-made Telecaster from 1989. The Telecaster was for many years Al's primary gigging axe for electric work. Look at the photos next to this section and have a listen to 'A salute to Carlos', recorded on his telecaster in Münich 1992.

For jazz trio
The Jazz trio is a newer concept. The primary axe in the Jazz trio is a beautiful 1965 Gibson ES-120. Then there is this Washburn ES-335 type from 2006. And occasionally, there is another Yamaha acoustic that is plugged in for a soft jazzy number.
